Digital + Culture = Creative Economy

Egypt

On May the 3rd, 4th and 5th, at the Fairmont Heliopolis Hotel in Cairo, The British Council along with Kijamii, TEDxCairo,  Startup Weekend Cairo, Eventtus, Cairo Hackerspace and Darb 1718 “Contemporary Arts & Culture Centre”, are bringing together some of the best of Egypt’s software developers and designers with those in the cultural and creative sector to stimulate the creation of new technology tools and ventures to support the development of the creative and cultural economy.

They’ll have just two and a half days to dig into the problems of the cultural and creative sector experiences, then come up with an idea and build a credible proof-of-concept solution or project to a creative or cultureal sector challenge, complete with business model and marketing plan. Winning teams will be granted up to £5000.

Assembling such diverse backgrounds together will lead to a great spirit of discovery and innovation. This was successfully done in Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya.

If you would like to join the event please apply here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGptUks5QTJYNXMxTTVwcllwTzdRM2c6MQ#gid=0

Note that the seats are limited so make sure you are part of it. Deadline is 21st  of April,2012.
